LIFT OFF

In some way, shape, or form we’ve all experienced the feeling of LIFT.  In an airplane, in a car, on an escalator–it’s a feeling that propels you in a specific direction.  (And sometimes, it even takes your breath away!)

Next time you “take off,” pay attention to how your spine feels. You’ll probably discover it feels lighter, less weighted, and free.

Whenever I’m instructing a class, I always remind my students to LIFT out of their pelvis, slim their waistline, lifting their torso up and to the sky.  I say this so their spine can feel a sense of release and ease.

When we’re at ease and are LIFTED, we’re using our abdominals and moving from our center.  Your joints no longer ache and all of those imbalances seem to disappear for the moment.

Pilates is not just about exercise. It’s about finding where your power is and moving from that authentic space.

When people say they are addicted to Pilates, what they really mean is that they are addicted to that feeling of LIFT, that special feeling of freedom and buoyancy!  You hear people talk about it with such passion, saying, “I can’t explain it.  I just feel better.”  It’s the LIFT they’re talking about, the LIFT that makes them feel better, and THAT’s the magic of Pilates!

And by the way…

Don’t we all need a “pick me up” from time to time?
